We Must Repent and Return to the Lord
On the eve of the National Day of Prayer this year, I am reflecting on the blessings of God in our nation. America is the longest ongoing Constitutional Republic in history. This gift from God we call America – the greatest nation ever built - is founded on God’s Word, the Bible. Noah Webster wrote, “The brief exposition of the constitution of the United States, will unfold to young persons the principles of republican government; and it is the sincere desire of the writer that our citizens should early understand that the genuine source of correct republican principles is the Bible, particularly the New Testament or the Christian religion.” [1] Consequently, we live and work in the wealthiest nation on Earth. In 2022 America achieved the highest GDP [Gross Domestic Product] on Earth at $25.4 Trillion Dollars, with China a distant second at $17.8 Trillion Dollars. [2] And this with a population of only about 339 million people as compared to China’s 1.4 billion people. [3]

America's foundations are cracked in every area and when those cracks extend to the Judicial System, it signals great trouble in our land. Jesus counsels us to build upon the rock of His Word and not the sand of sinful, human ideology. He said, “Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine, and acts upon them, may be compared to a wise man, who built his house upon the rock. “And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and burst against that house; and [yet] it did not fall, for it had been founded upon the rock. “And everyone who hears these words of Mine, and does not act upon them, will be like a foolish man, who built his house upon the sand. “And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and burst against that house; and it fell, and great was its fall” (Matthew 7:24-27 NASB). Since fifty-three of the fifty-five Framers of America's Constitutional Republic were devout Christians and attended a Christian church while they framed this nation, they were very familiar with the Lord's Word. While watching an incredible football game between the Las Vegas Raiders and the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday evening, January 9, 2022, I began to research the construction marvels of the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas where they played. On Sunday we took the shuttle to the airport with about fifteen others and as we departed the property, our driver began sharing a bit of the history of the Broadmoor.
